For the mid-year project in the first year of my BA in Art and Contemporary Craft at West Dean College, we were given a brief The Making of Place. I chose to consider isolation as a place. I researched some of the main causes of isolation and chose to develop a response to the following: alcoholism and alcohol as a trigger for dissociative identity disorder; migration and displacement; homelessness; ageing and bereavement; controlling relationships and domestic slavery. By shifting the emphasis in the phrase We Don’t Exist In Isolation, I created five separate digital responses, shown below.

I presented my project in the form of an installation exhibition, and delivered a performance piece for my sixth response.
